Elephant Toothpaste!

What would elephants use to
brush their tusks?
We decided to make some elephant toothpaste.
Before we made the toothpaste we talked with a buddy and drew pictures of what we predicted (thought) the toothpaste would look like.

Equipment: what we used
* warm water
* yeast
* dish washing soap
* hyrogen peroxide
* food colouring
* empty bottle

What we did...
 Hugo tipped the yeast into
the warm water.

 The yeast started to bubble.

We looked at the yeast and smelt it.
Some of us liked the smell and some of us didn't.

The yeast dissolved in the warm water.

 Miss Robinson and Miss Lonsdale poured the hydrogen peroxide into
the bottles.

In went the food colouring...

and the dish washing liquid

 Waiting to see the chemical reaction.

 In goes the yeast...
what is going to happen???

WOW!

 The Elephant Toothpaste poured and bubbled out of the bottles.

 Some of us smelt the yeast again 😏

What a great way to start our
Science investigations.
