Dry Ice Experiment with Miss Ng Lam

We were so lucky to have Miss Ng Lam pop into our class and share her DRY ICE with us.

We found out that dry ice is
solid Carbon Dioxide. It is much colder than ice and we were not allowed to touch it.
Miss Ng Lam used tongs and a cup to pick up the dry ice.

We were so excited to observe what would happen when the dry ice was put into a bowl of cold water. The dry ice changed from a solid to a gas...
it did not turn into a liquid!!
We could see it bubbling in the water and it quickly turned into a gas.
The dry ice did not melt.

In the second experiment we put boiling water in a bowl. We then added dish washing liquid. We couldn't wait to see what would happen.

We saw lots of bubbles and could hear
 the dry ice bubbling.

It was so cool when we got to hold the bubbles. We could see the gas inside the bubbles.

The bowl with dry ice and cold water
felt  very very cold.

Miss Ng Lam added more dry ice so we could see even more bubbles.

The bubbles were filled with carbon dioxide.
